Extra 7 Years Jail for ex-Myanmar PM - 18-month trial ends

INTERNATIONAL: In a widely expected decision, Aung San Suu Kyi has been sent down for a further seven years for renting, purchasing and maintaining a helicopter during her time as leader - at the expense of the state.

It means she has a total of 33 years to serve in prison following a series of convictions since the military toppled her govt in 2021

The Nobel Peace Prize winner lost many of her international supporters when she oversaw a brutal crackdown on the country's Rohingya minority in 2017.
