Cambodian Red Cross President: Retirees Have Many Accomplishments and Good Memories

PHNOM PENH: The President of the Cambodian Red Cross (CRC), First Lady Bun Rany Hun Sen, paid a visit to retired CRC officials who were previously involved in conducting humanitarian work with the organization in the past.

The visit took place on Monday, 26 December 2022, at the CRC headquarters, with the participation of the Permanent Vice President, Kong Sam Ol, and members of the Retirement Committee. In total, 80 people were present during the visit.

The First Lady said she was pleased to meet all the retirees and officials of the CRC and thanked them all for their hard work with the humanitarian organization in the past. Some of the retirees had even worked at the CRC before the First Lady became the organization's president.

She further stated that all the achievements and successes made by the CRC from the very beginning, were thanks to the active participation of CRC retirees and volunteer officers. She said they helped to alleviate the hardships of vulnerable people and victims of various disasters, and in particular contributed to making the CRC more well-known on the international stage.

"All retirees have done meritorious work and left behind fond memories; they overcame all obstacles on challenging terrain, such as traversing minefields, forests, and remote locations during previous large-scale humanitarian operations to provide aid to all the victims, and they left behind merits and achievements that are still remembered today," said the First Lady.
