Kratie Provincial Department of Environment Denies Involvement of Officials in Extortion Case

KRATIE: The Kratie Provincial Department of Environment has denied the involvement of provincial environmental officials in extorting money from Romork (motorcycle towing cart) drivers. The Department said that it will search for person who has pretended to be an environmental official and committed this act.

The statement of denial came after a person claiming to be an environmental official in Kratie province stopped a Romork (motorcycle towing cart) carrying wooden beds and tables in O'Kreang commune, Sambo district, Kratie province.and extorted money from the driver.

In a press release issued on Monday, 26 December 2022, the Kratie Provincial Department of Environment confirmed that the person involved is not a civil servant of the Provincial Department of Environment, and the Department now aims to take legal action to address this issue.

The Kratie Provincial Department of Environment condemns the actions of a small group of individuals who persistently pose as environmental officials and use their fake status to extort money from the general public.

The provincial department also hopes that individuals who claim to be the protectors and conservationists of natural resources will stop their fraudulent activities.
