CDC Issues Investment Certificates Worth US $32.4 Million

PHNOM PENH: The Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) has issued six new investment project registration certificates in the month of December, all of which are in the garment and manufacturing industry, located in the provinces of Kandal, Kampong Cham and Phnom Penh.

These investment projects are collectively worth an approximate US $32.4 million and create 6,945 new jobs. Meanwhile, some Japanese companies have also announced that they will move shift of their big garment factories out of China to member countries in Southeast Asia, such as Cambodia and Vietnam, to take advantage of textile import tariff exemptions.

Two major malls also opened this year in Phnom Penh - the Chip Mong 271 Mega mall and AEON 3. Additionally, 10 new international and local brands arrived in Cambodia, while 62 already established international and local brands expanded their branches, helping to further boost the local economy.
