UPF Director-General Seeks Advice from Cambodian PM to Mobilize Support for World Peace Charter

PHNOM PENH: The Director General of the Universal Peace Federation (UPF), Yun Young Ho, has asked for the opinion of the Prime Minister of Cambodia in raising a voice of support for the Charter of World Peace and the construction of the Mekong Peace Park.

This request for opinion was made during the UPF Director General’s courtesy visit to Prime Minister Hun Sen at the Peace Palace in Phnom Penh on Tuesday morning, 20 December.

The Prime Minister’s Assistant, Eang Sophalleth, told reporters after the meeting that the UPF Director General congratulated Prime Minister Hun Sen on successfully leading the ASEAN Summit, and also asked for the Prime Minister’s advice on how to mobilize support for the World Peace Charter and the construction of the Mekong Peace Park.

In response, Prime Minister Hun Sen remarked that while chairing ASEAN this year was a complicated process, Cambodia was able to successfully achieve 101 outcome documents without hindrance.

As for mobilizing support, the Prime Minister informed the UPF Director General that he should follow the "UPF + X" format, gaining support support from both small individuals and large groups. The matter of building a peace park, he said, must also continue to move forward.
