PM Returns to Cambodia after a Successful Trip to Europe

Phnom Penh: Prime Minister Hun Sen returned to Cambodia this morning, 16 December 2022, after attending the celebration of the 45th anniversary of ASEAN-EU relations in Brussels, Belgium.

The Royal Government of Cambodia special aircraft landed at Phnom Penh International Airport at around 6:45 am this morning, 16 December 2022.

This year, the EU and ASEAN celebrate 45 years of Dialogue Partnership. The EU Delegation to ASEAN, in collaboration with the ASEAN Secretariat and bilateral EU Delegations in the region, organized a number of events and activities to mark the occasion.

Prime Minister Hun Sen addressed two issues during his visit to Europe: the Ukraine Peace Treaty and the establishment of the ASEAN-EU Free Trade Agreement. The German, French, Vietnamese and Laotian presidents were also in attendance.

Prime Minister’s assistant, Kao Kim Hourn, said in a press conference after the Prime Minister's return to Cambodia that the Prime Minister's visit to Europe is to promote Cambodia's role in the international arena, bilateral meetings with friendly countries, and ASEAN work.

He added: "Therefore, despite the busy schedule, the Prime Minister has spent his busy time abroad leading Cambodia, especially reflecting the active leadership of the Prime Minister in the region and internationally."

This year, Prime Minister Hun Sen has visited the European Union twice, which has positive results both times.
