PM Urges the Use of Cambodian Agricultural Products to Supply Tourism

Sihanoukville: PM Hun Sen urged the Ministry of Tourism and the Ministry of Agriculture to work together to make tourism a market for farmers, product makers, and breeders.

On the evening of December 10, 2022, at the Opening Ceremony of the 9th Sea Festival, Round 3, in Sihanoukville, PM Hun Sen announced efforts to promote production to the standard needed to supply the tourism sector and to create a green belt in the tourist area.

"Our people have a lot of opportunities to feed and meet the demands of international tourists who are gradually returning to Cambodia, along with millions of domestic tourists. Our farmers can grow crops and livestock and bring them to hotels for foreign tourists to eat as local exports (products) at that place," he said.

In this regard, the Prime Minister insisted on increasing exports on the spot (local products), not just cross-border exports. At the same time, the Prime Minister urged the Ministry of Tourism and the Ministry of Agriculture to work together to make tourism a market for farmers, product makers, and breeders.

"Now, unlike before, people are screaming for markets every day. "So the tourism industry, which we used to estimate would receive 6.6 million tourists, will gradually return to 6 million or 7 million tourists again," he explained.
