PM Hun Sen to Discuss "Peace" With Europe Next Week

Sihanoukville: PM Hun Sen will have a meeting with European leaders on the issue of peace, which has become an issue in Europe after Russia launched an attack on Ukraine.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the 9th Sea Festival on the evening of December 10, 2022, in Sihanoukville, PM Hun Sen said, "He will not pour oil on the flames of war," which are happening in Europe.

"War is raging in Europe, where there was once peace, but due to the issues that are unfolding in Europe, it has now become a major topic; the topic of peace that I will discuss is not a separate issue to Cambodia."

PM Hun Sen will travel to the European Union to co-chair the EU-ASEAN Commemorative Summit on Sunday night, December 11th, to celebrate the 45th anniversary of ASEAN-EU Dialogue Relations.

PM Hun Sen, as a former military commander, understands the consequences of war and how to resolve them. He was one of the individuals who helped end Cambodia's decades-long war, reuniting the divided country under the roof of peace after more than 500 years of division in its history.

Speaking at the ceremony, PM Hun Sen stressed that peace is more important than anything else and that it is only through peace that development and respect for human rights have been realized.
