Two-Day High School Baccalaureate Exams Conclude Smoothly

PHNOM PENH: The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports has confirmed that the two days of the high school baccalaureate exams on 5-6 December 2022 went smoothly, with good security and order, and with no significant irregularities recorded.

The Ministry of Education added that although there was rain at some of the exam centers, it did not affect the exam process.

According to the Ministry, a total of 2,400 candidates, roughly 1.8%, were recorded as absent from the Baccalaureate exams.

During the exam process, 70 candidates experienced health problems, including four who were involved in traffic accidents and another four who were suspected of being positive for Covid-19. The Ministry stated that among the candidates with health problems, there were only three who were unable to complete their exams. Additionally, there was one candidate who was found violating the code of ethics.

At the same time, there were 14 members of the exam committee who experienced health problems while performing their duties. One was in serious condition and needed to be sent to the hospital.

The Ministry of Education said that all candidates’ exams and attached documents will be checked thoroughly and sent to Phnom Penh on 7 December 2022 to prepare for the marking process.

A total of 128,135 candidates, including 68,771 female candidates, were registered for this year’s high school baccalaureate exams. There were 221 exam centers with 5,174 rooms prepared for the exam period, along with 17,240 participating invigilators and observers, including 2,756 practicing teachers, 350 leaders and officials and 2,700 provincial and capital observers.

The high school baccalaureate exam results will be announced on the afternoon of 27 December 2022 for candidates in Phnom Penh and Kandal. The Ministry will announce the results for students from other provinces on the morning of 28 December 2022.
