G-Devith and VannDa Set the Closing Ceremony on Fire

PHNOM PENH: On Wednesday night, 30 November 2022, Prime Minister Hun Sen presided over the closing ceremony of the 3rd National Games and 1st National Paralympic Games held at the Morodok Techo National Stadium in Phnom Penh’s Chroy Changvar district. The closing ceremony featured exciting performances from an array of Cambodian superstars.

The games were held under the slogan "Sports brings peace and development" for 12 days, from 19-30 November 2022.

The games were held in several locations across Cambodia, including Phnom Penh, Kampot, Sihanoukville, Kep, and Siem Reap. The national games involved 38 sports, while the paralympic games included 7 sports.

This national sporting event was organized by the Royal Government of Cambodia for the first time in 2016. The games are aimed at improving the quality of national competitions, with the goal of reaching regional standards, and are also intended to prepare Cambodia to take part well and win more medals, particularly in the upcoming 32nd Southeast Asian Games and 12th ASEAN Para Games in 2023. Cambodia will be hosting these events for the first time.

The closing ceremony was accompanied by a number of artistic performances including a performance by Ok Sokunkanha of her song ‘Be Yourself,’ a performance of the song ‘#Heroine’ by G-Devith, and a performance of the smash hit, ‘Time to Rise,’ by VannDa and master Kong Nai.

Fans on social media were ablaze with excitement over G-Devith’s elaborate performance showcasing the Lakhon Kal, LBokator, and modern dance while dressed up as a warrior himself. As for VannDa, he sat next to the revered master Kong Nai for most of his performance before standing up to join his team. Both performances were vastly different in style and yet both powerful.

About 50,000 people attended the closing ceremony.
