Cambodia-Japan Relations Next Year Will Not Be the Same as Before

PHNOM PENH: Prime Minister Hun Sen has stated that Cambodia and Japan will upgrade their cooperation in 2023 to the level of a 'comprehensive strategic partnership,' in honor of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.

Speaking at the celebration of the 10 + 1 Year Anniversary of Japanese company Minebea’s operations in Cambodia on Thursday, 1 December 2022, Prime Minister Hun Sen said that this is an agreement that will increase benefits between the two countries.

The decision to strengthen ties was made during a bilateral meeting between Prime Minister Hun Sen and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida on 12 November 2022.
