Four Cambodian Youth with Disabilities Reach the Finals of the Global IT Challenge

PHNOM PENH: Four young Cambodians have reached the finals of the Global IT Challenge (GITC) for Youth with Disabilities 2022, which will be held on 15-16 November.

Youth with disabilities from 16 different countries made it to the GITC finals. All GITC participants are between the ages of 14 and 23, and have disabilities such as vision impairments, are deaf or hard of hearing, have physical disabilities or have intellectual disabilities.

The four Cambodian participants that made it to the finals are Bo Visal, Roeung Channy, Sim Seang Hai and Tim Sopheaktra.

The finals are spread across two days, with eTool_PPT, eTool_Excel and eLifeMap challenges scheduled for 15 November, and eContent, eCreative_smart car and eCreative challenges scheduled for 16 November.

The Secretary of State for the Ministry of Social Affairs and Secretary-General of Disability Action Council (DAC), Em Chan Makara, has thanked the Republic of Korea, LG and the GITC Secretariat for organizing this event every year and encouraging young people with disabilities around the world to join.

"I suggest that all youth with disabilities who participated this year, especially youth with disabilities from Cambodia, to strive to compete in all disciplines to win medals in honor of themselves and the country,” said Secretary of State Em Chan Makara. “Let all youth with disabilities do their best to win, to win for themselves and the nation."

The Global IT Challenge (GITC) for Youth with Disabilities is a project to strengthen the ICT capabilities of youth with disabilities around the world, seeking to establish a foundation for social advancement, and improve awareness on digital accessibility for youth with disabilities.
