Cambodia to Boost Rice Exports to the Philippines

PHNOM PENH: Cambodia and the Philippines have agreed to boost bilateral cooperation on rice exports. The agreement was made during a bilateral meeting between Filipino President, Ferdinand Marcos Jr., and Prime Minister Hun Sen on Thursday, 10 November 2022.

According to Prime Minister Hun Sen, the Philippines would make a 100 percent investment in the rice mills, dryer machines and warehouses for rice processing, in order to export rice from Cambodia to the Philippines.

The Prime Minister told the Filipino President that companies in the Philippines can connect with Cambodian farmers to harvest rice for exclusive export to the Philippines.

In addition to agreeing to boost rice exports, the two sides also agreed to boost bilateral cooperation in trade, investment, tourism, agriculture, information technology, logistics, and national security.

Cambodia exported more than 500,000 tons of rice to international markets in the past ten months of 2022, earning over US $323 million.
