Phnom Penh: Nearly 20 loans agreements and memorandum of understandings were signed between Cambodia and China during Chinese Premier Li Keqiang's official visit to Cambodia.
The loan agreements and memorandum of understandings were signed at the signing ceremony between Cambodia and China at the Peace Palace on the night of 9 November 2022, after Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen met with Chinese Premier Li Keqiang.
These loan agreements and memorandum of understandings include a concessional loan agreement for the construction of the Mekong River bridge in Kratie province and road connections, a loan agreement for the expansion of National Road 7, and a letter of acceptance for the master plan of the transportation system in Cambodia.
In addition to the memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the field of agricultural trade between Cambodia and China, the memorandum of understanding of handing-over and receiving for the second phase of the Rural Road Improvement Project under a grant from the Chinese government and memorandum of understanding of the handing-over of the project on sending Chinese traditional medicine experts to fight Covid-19 to Cambodia were also signed.
Other signings include the memorandum of understanding for the supply and support of Cambodia as the chair of ASEAN, the awarding and certification of the Chinese Aid for improving the school environment and the supply of educational equipment in Cambodia, co-develop Chinese language learning programs in public secondary schools in Cambodia, agreement on cooperation in the field of science, technology and innovation, and memorandum of understanding on strengthening cooperation on drugs, medicines, biomedical products, and animal feed additives.
Cambodia and China also decided to sign an agreement on the provision of animal vaccines, a protocol on phytosanitary requirements for pepper exports from Cambodia to China, a protocol on requirements for phytosanitary and animal hygiene requirements for natural fishery products export from Cambodia to China, agreement on the prevention of illegal theft, excavation and export and import of cultural property, agreement on the establishment of the Cambodian-Chinese traditional medicine center, agreement on the provision of tools and means to respond to climate change under the framework of South-South Cooperation, and certificate of acceptance for engineering projects supporting the improvement of people's livelihoods on the Phnom Penh-Sihanouk Expressway Project under a grant from the Chinese government.
These loan agreements and memorandum of understandings were signed under the chairmanship and witness of the Prime Ministers of Cambodia and China on the evening of 9 November 2022.
