"No War Can End With War," PM Tells Ukrainian President

PHNOM PENH: The Prime Minister of Cambodia has expressed his condolences to the President of Ukraine for the loss of lives caused by the war in Ukraine. He told the Ukrainian President, "no war can end with war."

At 4 pm on Tuesday, 1 November, Prime Minister Hun Sen held a telephone meeting with the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

According to a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Prime Minister spoke about Cambodia's experience with war and urged Ukraine and Russia to hold talks to find a solution.

"Cambodia attaches great importance to negotiations and a peaceful solution and hopes that all parties concerned will work for a comprehensive solution to end the war in Ukraine so that Ukraine can recover. Peace, stability, territorial integrity, and development," the statement said.

Cambodia has been a staunch opponent of Russian aggression, voting against the invasion and demanding that Russia withdraw its troops from Ukraine. However, Cambodia also does not support sanctions against Russia, considering that sanctions not only affect Russia and cause more losses for all.
