Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville Expressway Starts Charging Fees Today

PHNOM PENH: Starting from 7 am on Tuesday, 1 November 2022, the Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville Expressway will no longer be free of charge. All high-speed vehicles will, however, receive a 20% discount starting from 1 November and for the first year of the expressway's operations, with the payment based on distance traveled.

For motorcycles with a cylinder capacity of 500cc or more, family cars with no more than seven seats, and trucks with a load lighter than two tons, the cost of using the expressway will be discounted to US $0.064 per km per vehicle, where it would normally cost US $0.08 per km.

For passenger cars that have eight to 19 seats, and trucks carrying loads weighing two to five tons, the discounted price is US $0.128 per km, while the original price is $0.16 per km.

For passenger cars that have 20 to 57 seats and trucks carrying loads from five to 20 tons, the discounted price is US $0.192 per km, while the original price is US $0.24 per km.

For trucks between 10 to 20 tons, the discounted price of US $0.256 per km, while the original price is US $0.32 per km. Trucks carrying more than 20 tons (including containers) will receive a discounted price of US $0.32 per km, while the original price is US $0.40 per km.

The fees applicable for each vehicle will be posted at all information booths at expressway entrances. All vehicles must have identification plates, must be inspected for technical specifications, and have other required legal documentation.
