Cambodia-UAE Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement Achieves First Step

ABU DHABI: The Secretary of State of the Ministry of Commerce has praised and thanked the United Arab Emirates for organizing the first round of negotiations on the comprehensive economic partnership between Cambodia and the UAE.

The Secretary of State and Chairman of the Trade Negotiation Group for the Cambodian delegation, Tek Reth Kamrong, and the Deputy Minister in charge of International Trade and Chairman of the Trade Negotiation Group for the United Arab Emirates, Juma Mohammed Al Kait, held bilateral talks to review the outcomes and conclude the first round of negotiations on the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement between Cambodia and the United Arab Emirates, from 24-26 October 2022 in Abu Dhabi.

Secretary of State Tek Reth Kamrong praised and thanked the United Arab Emirates for hosting the first round of negotiations on the Cambodia-UAE Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CAM-UAE CEPA) as well as for showing such great hospitality to the Cambodian delegation while in Abu Dhabi.

She stressed that this agreement will strengthen the two countries’ bilateral relations by opening up more markets and increasing bilateral investment opportunities for mutual benefit and with deepened economic cooperation.

The Chairman of the United Arab Emirates Negotiation Team also praised the thoroughness of the joint-working group, which allowed the whole negotiation process to be conducted in a smooth, friendly and understanding manner.

A joint memorandum was also signed at the end of the first round of negotiations.
