SEOUL: The Cambodian representative attending the 10th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Global Green Development Institute, Eang Sophalleth, has expressed his appreciation for the institute's achievements and extended his thanks to the institute for promoting green development and a green economy in Cambodia as well.
Addressing the anniversary meeting in Seoul, South Korea on Wednesday afternoon, 26 October, the Secretary of State for the Ministry of Environment, Eang Sophalleth, congratulated the Institute on its achievements over the past 10 years, and further highlighted Cambodia's Sustainable Development Policy and new investment law, amended in 2021, which promotes the development of technology and green investment.
The Secretary of State highlighted several ongoing projects in Cambodia in his speech, including the development of human resources in the field of green hydrogen energy, the development of carbon-free communities, and the production of biodegradable plastic bags. He said these are existing projects that the Global Green Development Institute can potentially contribute to in the future, to aid Cambodia's green development process.
A Cambodian delegation, led by Secretary of State Eang Sophalleth, including the Director General and experts of the General Department of Policy and Strategy of the Ministry of Environment, attended Global Green Development Week from 25 to 27 October 2022 in Seoul, South Korea. Some of the activities the delegation were involved with included the 11th Plenary Meeting and the 15th Council Meeting of the Global Green Development Institute, a bilateral meeting with the Leaders of the Global Green Development Institute, and other follow-up events on the energy efficiency and renewable energy potential of the garment industry in Cambodia.
