Ministry of Justice Calls for Legal Action Against Sam Rainsy for Insulting King

PHNOM PENH: On Monday afternoon, 24 October 2022, the Ministry of Justice issued a statement condemning Sam Rainsy for insulting the King of Cambodia, His Majesty King Norodom Sihamoni.

The Ministry of Justice said that it considers Sam Rainsy's insult to King Norodom Sihamoni to be the most serious act of treason against the King and former King of Cambodia, as well as the entire Cambodian nation.

The Ministry has called on the authorities to take legal action against Sam Rainsy and other factions who dare to make such serious insults that no one throughout the Kingdom should tolerate.

"All of us, the Cambodian people, solemnly declare that we will continue to honor, support and march with the King of Cambodia, the supreme, patriotic and revered figure," read the Ministry of Justice statement. "This is the highest deed for all of us, the Cambodian people."

The Minister Attached to the Prime Minister and Head of the Information and Quick Reaction Unit of the Office of the Council of Ministers, Svay Sitha, has also condemned the "third generation traitor" Sam Rainsy, for stating that "the King of Cambodia has not even a little bit of national conscience," and for accusing the King of signing a decree that cuts off foreign territory.

Svay Sitha said that he, as a Cambodian citizen, could not accept the repeated insults of these three generations of traitors, and such actions should not be tolerated.

Many other government officials have also condemned Sam Rainsy for his latest actions.
