PM: If ‘Afraid of Covid’ Is an Excuse to Not Meet with the People, then He’s Not Suitable to be the Leader
Banteay Meanchey: Prime Minister Hun Sen said that Covid-19 has not gone away yet, but despite this problem, people should not be left behind. The Prime Minister said that if he was afraid of Covid and did not dare to visit the people, he would not be a suitable state leader.
Speaking at a meeting with more than 5,000 families affected by the floods on the morning of 23 October 2022, Prime Minister Hun Sen praised the Cambodian authorities for respecting their role and assisting the people during the Covid-19 outbreaks and after as well.
Speaking at the third meeting with citizens who volunteered to relocate from the Angkor resort area to the Run Ta Ek area on the morning of 21 October 2022, the Prime Minister expressed his happiness when Cambodia has no new Covid-19 infection in the report by the Ministry of Health on 20 October 2022. He considered this a success in the fight against Covid-19 with the help of everyone in Cambodia.
The Prime Minister observed that most people are used to wearing masks, but there are also some people who chose to not wear masks. However, the Prime Minister encouraged people to continue to wear masks and follow the “3 Dos and 3 Don’ts” protection measures.
As of 21 October 2022, there were more than 130,000 cases of Covid-19 infection and 3,056 deaths in Cambodia according to the Ministry of Health.
