Royal Cambodian Armed Forces Vow to Protect Cambodia from Sam Rainsy's Attempted Destruction

PHNOM PENH: The Commander-in-Chief, Deputy Commander-in-Chief, Officers and Soldiers of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (RCAF) have strongly condemned recent remarks made by Sam Rainsy through a newly issued statement and video clip.

According to a statement released by the RCAF on Monday, 17 October, the armed forces are prepared to immediately dismantle Sam Rainsy, who it considers a "third-generation traitor," and his faction that wishes to start a revolution and destroy the hard-earned peace of Cambodian society.

The RCAF has stated it is committed to defending the Constitution and the Royal Government of Cambodia, with Prime Minister Hun Sen, the First Lady and their family. The RCAF also reiterated its support to Hun Manet as the future Prime Ministerial candidate.

The armed forces have also called on the authorities to arrest Sam Rainsy immediately if he returns to Cambodia, to have him taken to court to face serious action as the leader of a "rebel group."

The statement from the RCAF also condemns a recently issued statement and video by Sam Rainsy, that pushes for the overthrow of the 2023 government and incites the armed forces to revolt against the government as well. The RCAF said that it considers Sam Rainsy's remarks to be an insult to Prime Minister Hun Sen, the founder of peace and beloved leader of the Cambodian people.
