PM to Produce 25 Watches to Gift ASEAN Heads of State at Summit in November

PHNOM PENH: Prime Minister Hun Sen, the 2022 ASEAN Chair, has ordered 25 local companies to produce watches for the heads of government who will attend the ASEAN Summit in November.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony for students of Phnom Penh International University, Prime Minister Hun Sen said that these watches are produced locally to show the world the development of Cambodia.

The Prime Minister also confirmed that he will personally gift the watches to each Head of State, Head of Government, and representative of an international institution attending the ASEAN Summit in November.

"We will produce up to 25 watches for top leaders and institutions under ASEAN, all made in Cambodia," he said. "Let them know that Cambodians can now make watches. I will give this gift to the heads of state and heads of government, and that day I will also wear the ASEAN brand watch, during the ASEAN meetings."

The Prime Minister said that watches will be made not only for the heads of state of the 10 ASEAN member countries, but will also be gifted to other partners who will participate in the summit.

"We have only 10 members in ASEAN, but we invited many partners outside of the state because we need to have a Global Dialogue," he said. "The Second Dialogue was attended by the President of the World Bank, the IMF President, the ADB President, the Director-General of the World Trade Organization, the Director-General of the World Health Organization, the President of the European Council, the President of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the President of the World Economic Forum."

The 40th and 41st ASEAN Summits and related summits will be held from 10-13 November 2022 in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
