PM Urges Health Cooperation with Cuba

Phnom Penh: Prime Minister Hun Sen has asked Cuba to cooperate with Cambodia’s health sector, to promote and pay more attention to the well-being of the people; After the Prime Minister of Cuba Manuel Marrero Cruz informed the progress of the health sector in Cuba regarding the fight against Covid-19.

Speaking to reporters on Tuesday evening, 4 October, the Prime Minister’s assistant, Eang Sophalleth said that during the hour-long meeting between the two prime ministers, the two sides discussed bilateral relations, particular, and the fight against Covid-19 in each country. The Cuban Prime Minister said that the country has used their own vaccine and as a result, was able to control the spread of Covid-19.

It should be noted that Cuba is a country with medical progress, which has successfully produced several vaccines, including cancer and diabetes vaccines.

During Prime Minister Hun Sen's visit to Cuba in late September, he ordered Health Minister Mam Bunheng to liaise with the Cuban Center for Genetic and Biotechnology Engineering to co-import or produce cancer and diabetes vaccines for Cambodia also.
