Phnom Penh: Battambang provincial authorities have advised people to be more careful, especially the elderly, the disabled and young children as the water level in Sangke River continues to rise to 14.60 meters this morning, and the water in Sangke River flooded the roads Battambang city.

Battambang provincial governor Sok Lou wrote in his pack this morning “that if there was no more rain in the upper reaches, the city's floodwaters would soon recede”.

According to Mr. Sok Lou, some roads in Battambang province were damaged by the recent floods. After the water receded, the provincial authorities temporarily closed the road on the Som Bok Morn road and if the weather is clears up, the provincial authorities will continue to repair it if there enough in the budget of the province.

Mr. Pheng Sethy, Governor of Battambang City, who led the working group from City, Municipal, and Administration of O’Mal commune, to inspect the flooded rice fields due to the flooding on October 3 and confirmed that the working group is looking for ways to discharge water to the canal of Thmar Koul district to avoid flooding.

According to the governor of Battambang, the flood has affected more than 2,000 hectares of fields.
