Two Former Opposition Parties Decide to Reunite

PHNOM PENH: The Candlelight Party and the Khmer Will Party have held discussions and decided to join together as one party for the next election in 2023.

According to a statement made by the Candlelight Party on 4 October 2022, this decision was made after a series of discussions between the senior leadership of the Candlelight Party and the Khmer Will Party.

As a result, the Khmer Will Party has decided not to list any candidates for the 7th parliamentary election in 2023, as they have decided to join together with the Candlelight Party to form a single party.

The Candlelight Party welcomed the presence of the former founder of the Khmer National Party, Kong Korm, who was also the former President of the Sam Rainsy Party and is currently the Honorary President of the Khmer Will Party.

It should be noted Kong Korm will now also serve as the Supreme Advisor of the Candlelight Party.
