Nearly 9,000 Vehicles Travel on Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville Expressway on Opening day

PHNOM PENH: The Ministry of Public Works and Transport has reported that nearly 9,000 vehicles traveled on the Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville Expressway on the first day of its test launch, including both individual family cars and large transportation vehicles.

According to the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, from 7 am to 6 pm on Saturday, 1 October, 8,927 vehicles traveled on the Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville Expressway by entering and exiting through all eight stations.

The expressway saw use from both family travelers and technically compliant transport vehicles over the weekend, proving the expressway’s high potential as an economic line.

The Ministry also confirmed that among the nearly 9,000 vehicles, there were also a number of cases where travelers needed consultation, requested more information and sought out assistance for using the expressway, with a total of 52 lines contacting the 1399 helpline.

The Ministry also emphasized that all drivers and passengers on the expressway must strictly abide by the set safety standards and instructions, respecting the minimum requirements and conditions to drive on this highway, and with respect to all traffic laws to make your trip fun and safe.
