Malaysian Ambassador Says Hun Manet Will Be Ready When the Time Comes to be PM

PHNOM PENH: The Malaysian Ambassador to Cambodia, Datuk Eldeen Husaini Mohd Hashim, has said that future prime ministerial candidate, Lt. Gen. Hun Manet, will be ready to be Prime Minister when the time comes.

EAC News recently sat down for an exclusive interview with the Ambassador of Malaysia to get some of his thoughts on various topics related to Malaysia's relationship with Cambodia.

During the interview, the Malaysian Ambassador shared that he thinks Lt. Gen. Hun Manet will make a good future leader and has his own distinct character.

“Well, he is very aware of the situation [in the country] and is very close in terms of getting all these issues to heart," said the Malaysian Ambassador.

"He's been going around to the public and talking to Cambodians and to foreigners as well. We can see the leadership in him, and, of course, when the time comes, I think he will be ready to take on the challenge to become the Prime Minister because you can see the background that he has, the position that he holds right now."

"He has been doing so wonderfully. He's been going around and addressing the public on what he thinks. He has his own character, he has his own thinking and I'm sure he'd be a good leader once he's taken on the role of Prime Minister.”

Ambassador Eldeen Husaini Mohd Hashim also shared that he believes the bilateral relations between Cambodia and Malaysia will continue to grow and become stronger under Lt. Gen. Hun Manet’s leadership.
