NEW YORK: Prime Minister Hun Sen has said that over the past two years, the Royal Government of Cambodia has been working to prevent the spread of Covid-19 by introducing health, social, and economic intervention and administrative measures. He identified Covid-19 vaccination as a key strategic measure. As a result, Cambodia has become one of the countries with the highest global population coverage of Covid-19 vaccination

Addressing the 77th United Nations General Assembly in New York, Prime Minister Hun Sen said that achieving vaccination coverage of almost the entire population has created "herd immunity" which allows the country to be fully reopened by the end of 2021, as well as the restoration of all socio-economic activities in the new normal.

On this occasion, the Prime Minister expressed his gratitude to all friendly countries for providing Covid-19 vaccine to Cambodia through bilateral and multilateral frameworks.

In addition, for the social sector, the Royal Government of Cambodia has worked with development partners such as the United Nations to implement and expand some important programs such as 1). Cash-labor programs aimed at improving community infrastructure and providing additional employment opportunities; and 2). The program provides cash support to poor and vulnerable families to alleviate the hardships and maintain the livelihood of the poor.
