Secretary of State Em Chan Makara Requests Relevant Institutions to Consider Vehicle Parking Permits for PWDs

PHNOM PENH: Secretary of State of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Secretary-General of the Disability Action Council, Em Chan Makara, has requested the relevant institutions to start thinking about making parking permits for persons with disabilities.

Speaking on behalf of the Minister of Social Affairs, Vong Sauth, on the International Day of the Deaf 2022 at the Ministry on Thursday morning, 22 September, Secretary of State Em Chan Makara said that he has requested the relevant institutions to expedite the issuance of ID cards for persons with disabilities.

He said, "How can they park? Because we have not prepared [the space] for them yet. Yes, we have not issued a license for them yet, so I suggest that we should start thinking about this with His Excellency Ung Sambath."

In this regard, he added that they must be aware of which Ministry is responsible for this endeavor, and must also monitor who uses the appropriate parking spaces and fine those who violate the law.
