Hun Manet Recalls the Merits of Veterans, Teachers and Retired Officials

PHNOM PENH: Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces and Commander of the Army, Lt. Gen. Hun Manet, has reminded all that veterans, teachers and retired officers are like parents who have built a prosperous Cambodian society.

Speaking at a meeting with members of the Cambodian Veterans Association on Thursday morning, 22 September, Lt. Gen. Hun Manet said that taking care of veterans, teachers and retired officers and providing them with pensions is an obligation and level of morality that all future generations should uphold.

He added that veterans, former teachers and retired officials have made great sacrifices for the cause of peace and development of the country. He said they were the pioneers that built the base upon which opportunities could be provided for the next generation of soldiers and civil servants, allowing younger generations to continue serving the nation in an easier and more efficient manner, and providing access to an important resource of knowledge and work experience.
