More Than 500 Cambodian Girl Guides Swore in as New Members

PHNOM PENH: The Girl Guides Association of Cambodia held its 24th swearing-in ceremony for more than 500 new members.

The ceremony was held on Sunday afternoon, 11 September, with more than 600 participants at the Premiere Center Sen Sok G building. Among them was the Senior Advisor of the Girl Guides Association of Cambodia, Tan Phally, and other senior officials.

On behalf of the General Commissioner of the Girl Guides Association of Cambodia, Tan Phally expressed her great pleasure at being able to warmly welcome the new members of the Cambodian Girl Guides Association.

At the same time, she stated that Her Majesty the Queen Mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk, who is the Honorary President of the Girl Guides Association of Cambodia, is always paying attention to and supporting informal education activities for girls and young women in the region and across the world.

The Girl Guides Association Senior Advisor also thanked the new Executive Committee headed by the Commissioner General of the Girl Guides Association of Cambodia, Pich Chanmony, who worked hard to fulfill her duties in accordance with the principles of the association, to help develop the ability of young girls to grow up to become women, wives, or mothers, which is a crucial human resource in society and for the nation.

She added that the improvements in the lives of the Cambodian people was due to the contribution of the Royal Government in building, developing and maintaining peace in the nation.

It should be noted that the Girl Guides Association of Cambodia provides training and informal education through various activities across different provinces and rural areas. These include English language training, and teaching girl guides how to plant seeds and trees, paint, as well as made crafts by hand.
