DPM Prak Sokhonn Bestows Royal Order on Outgoing Thai Ambassador

PHNOM PENH: The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, DPM Prak Sokhonn, has bestowed on the outgoing Ambassador of Thailand to Cambodia, Panyarak Poolthup, the Royal Order of Sahametrei, Class Commander, during a farewell meeting on Tuesday, 5 September.

The Thai Ambassador thanked the Cambodian government for the Royal Order, which he considered to be a great honor for himself as well as for his team at the Embassy.

According to a press release issued by the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday, 5 September, DPM Prak Sokhonn praised the Thai Ambassador’s active contribution to broadening and strengthening the friendship and good cooperation between the two kingdoms in many areas such as economy, trade, health, education and culture. The DPM underlined that the Royal Order was a token of the Royal Government of Cambodia's appreciation of the Ambassador’s endeavors.

During the meeting, the two sides noted with pleasure the close friendly relations between the leaders of both countries, which has been the main factor in ensuring the steady growth of their multifaceted bilateral cooperation.

DPM Prak Sokhonn referred to the increasing bilateral trade exchange in the first half of this year and encouraged both countries to explore the opportunity to further expand bilateral trade and investment cooperation. The two sides also discussed the enhancement of bilateral cooperation on tourism, education, culture and the fight against human trafficking, positively noting the preparations made by the two countries for the resumption of negotiations on overlapping claim areas.

DPM Prak Sokhonn thanked the Thai Government for the development assistance provided to Cambodia including scholarships, training courses as well as the assistance and good care extended to Cambodian workers in Thailand. He also expressed his appreciation for Thailand's support to Cambodia's ASEAN Chairmanship, the DPM's endeavors as Special Envoy of the ASEAN Chair for Myanmar and the successful hosting of the 55th AMM and Related Meetings in early August 2022.
