Korea Pledges to Assist Cambodia in Rehabilitation of Workers in Accidents

PHNOM PENH: The Republic of Korea has stated it will help Cambodia, both through budgetary and technical means, in rehabilitating workers who suffer from occupational accidents. This was confirmed by the former Korean Minister of Labor, Jaekap Lee, in a meeting with the Cambodian Minister of Labor, Ith Samheng, on Thursday morning, 25 August 2022.

During the meeting, the former Korean Labor Minister, who is currently the manager of the Official Development Assistance Project for Rehabilitation in Cambodia, said that his team from Korea will assist the Cambodian team in the stated areas to be more efficient and successful in their rehabilitation work. He added that he had been involved in compiling a policy to support injured Korean workers in the workplace, helping to allow them to return to work.

Cambodian Labor Minister, Ith Samheng, welcomed this project to support the rehabilitation of injured Cambodian workers in the workplace, and said he hopes that the former Korean Minister of Labor will share his work experience to help this sector in Cambodia gain good results.

Regarding cooperation and support for Cambodia from the Government of the Republic of Korea, Minister Ith Sam Heng remarked that the two countries have a good relationship, especially following Prime Minister Hun Sen's official visit to the Republic of Korea. He added that the comprehensive strategic partnership, including a free trade agreement, between Cambodia and the Republic of Korea has benefited both parties greatly, and the influx of Korean investors to Cambodia has been steadily increasing in almost all sectors.
