Over 160 Cambodian Athletes to Be Trained in China for SEA Games

PHNOM PENH: Cambodia is sending 161 athletes of 12 different sports to train in the People's Republic of China to prepare for the 32nd Southeast Asian (SEA) Games, which will take place in Cambodia in 2023.

Athletes of gymnastics, judo, wushu, basketball, table tennis, athletics, wrestling, badminton, swimming, weightlifting, football (soccer) and volleyball will receive training in China.

According to the Secretary General of the Cambodian SEA Games Organizing Committee (CAMSOC), Vath Chamroeun, the athletes’ training, which will begin this month, is supported by the Government of China. CAMSOC is currently working to identify national and international training programs to further increase the capacity of Cambodian athletes for the upcoming games.

The CAMSOC Secretary General has expressed his deep thanks to the Government of China for supporting the training of Cambodian athletes, which he said will significantly contribute to Cambodia's performance at the 32nd SEA Games.

Cambodia will host the SEA Games and ASEAN Para Games in 2023 for the first time in the country’s history.
