Spokesperson of the ASEAN Foreign Ministers, Kung Phoak Concerns gives briefing on todays meetings

PHNOM PENH: Spokesperson of the 55th ASEAN Foreign Ministers and Related Meetings H.E. Kung Phoak, Gave a briefing this morning on todays agenda with the foreign ministers.

H.E. Kung Phoak, shared with us some of the outcomes of the meeting between Prime Minister of Cambodia Hun Sen and the Foreign Minister of China Wang Yi. They spoke about the corporation between the countries and to continue to strengthen their commitments. Also mentioned was the relationship between ASEAN and China as China has just became a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership partner.

He also mention during the Meeting between the deputy Prime Minister and the Prime Minister of Qatar, were the deputy prime Minister expressed his happiness that Qatar is also joining, through the TAC, to strengthening relationship.

“Today, we are having 11 PMC+ of post Ministerial meetings. Those meetings include China, Republic of Korea , Japan, England, India, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, EU, U.S., Russia, and on ASEAN-China and ASEAN-Australia Ministerial Meetings, all foreign ministers will discuss and adopt action plans to further enhance their cooperation in addition to the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership”.

The ASEAN-New Zealand and EU Ministerial Meetings, all foreign ministers will adopt the action plans to implement their strategic partnership and plan to build in the Asian regions as well.

In the ASEAN+ Japan, ROK, U.S. and India Ministerial Meetings, they will touch on upgrading the relations to the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

The ASEAN-Canada Ministerial Meeting, all foreign ministers will exchange views on the plan to upgrade the level of their relationship to the Strategic Partnership.

ASEAN-UK and ASEAN-Russia Ministerial Meetings, details to adopt some action plans to boost more cooperation and to touch on some of the global issues and a way to maintain stability and peace in the region and the world will be discussed.

During the ASEAN+ 3 China, ROK, and Japan, are going to adopt the new plan of action from 2023 to 2027 aimed at expanding relations with the participation countries to work on the small and medium enterprises, strengthening of the health systems with the recovering of covid 19 as soon as possible.

Separately, at the ASEAN-India Ministerial Meeting, the foreign ministers will discuss about the organisation of the commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of ASEAN-India dialogue relations.

For the ASEAN Plus Three Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, all ministers will adopt the new action plan for 2023-2027 to promote their cooperation focusing more on public health, SMEs development to fuel post-pandemic recovery.
