Phnom Penh: The Disability Action Council has announced its support for the 10th Amendment to the Constitution, as it guarantees the sustainability of national institutions and the aspiration of the Cambodian people.

In a press release issued on Saturday, July 30, the Secretary General of the Disability Action Council, Em Chan Makara, stated as the leader and civil servant of the General Secretariat of the Disability Action Council, he fully supports the amendment of the Constitution, Article 19 new (one), Article 98 (new), Article 102 (new), Article 119 new (one) and Article 125 (new) of the Constitution of the Kingdom of Cambodia and Article 3 (new) and Article 4 (new) of the Additional Constitution approved by the National Assembly On the morning of July 28, 2022.

He sees the 10th amendment of the Constitution as an implementation of liberal, multi-party democracy and a guarantee for the nation's top institutions to run smoothly in all circumstances, to protect and maintain peace, political stability, especially to protect the monarchy Constitutionalism.

The Secretary-General of the Disability Action Council added: "The nation and the will of the Cambodian people, and these important points must be limited and must be guaranteed in the Constitution, which is the supreme law of the nation."

It is noteworthy the new draft constitution allows the party with the most seats in the National Assembly to propose to the King to appoint an elite Prime Minister to form the Royal Government, and go through parliament, and additional procedures for the state process to form a new government in the absence of the Prime Minister or the Prime Minister resigns.

All 105 of the 106 lawmakers from the CPP voted unanimously to approve the full passage of the 10th Constitution.

After the law passes, the National Assembly will send it to the Senate for further approval before sending it to the King for official signature.
