Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) has endorsed two new investment projects Milanna Leatherware and Best Beauty Company Limited, with a total capital of US$14.3 million in Kampong Speu and Kandal provinces. Creating 3,650 jobs.

The (CDC) has registered 98 projects in the first six months of this year with a total investment capital of nearly US$3 billion comparing, US$29 million from the same period last year.

US$1.59 billion about 53 percent was of local investment projects, and with China registering US$1.29 billion, about 43 percent, and the remainder 4 percent from other foreign countries stated the CDC report.

Most of the investment focused on agriculture and agro-industry sectors, manufacturing, tourism, and infrastructure, stated the report.

Import-export activities in Sihanoukville Special Economic Zone (SSEZ) rose nearly 40 percent to US$1.37 billion in the January-June 2022, the operator’s report showed.

In 2021, total trade in SSEZ was valued at US$2.23 billion, up 42 percent from US$1.56 billion a year earlier, according to data provided by the operator.

Sihanoukville Special Economic Zone has attracted over 170 enterprises and private institutions from China, Europe, the United States, Southeast Asia and other regions, creating about 30,000 jobs.

Cambodia’s total exports were valued at US$11.37 billion in the first half of 2022, up 33.9 percent compared to the same period last year, according to a report from the General Department of Customs and Excise.

The U.S. is the country’s biggest market, stated the report, underlining that the amount of Cambodian exports to this world’s largest economic nation is 54 percent increase year-on-year, accounting for 51.8 percent of the total exports.

U.S. stocks ended sharply lower Tuesday 26th July.

The S&P 500 lost 45.79 points, or 1.15%, to end at 3,921.05 points, while the Nasdaq Composite lost 220.09 points, or 1.87%, to 11,562.58.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 228.50 points, or 0.71%, to 31,761.54.

Oil prices held steady, with Brent crude futures at $104.58 a barrel and U.S. crude futures up 0.3% to $95.32 a barrel.

Gold was steady at $1,717 an ounce.

Bitcoin (BTC) extended its stint in the red during today’s session, as the token was on the cusp of falling below $21,000.

Following a high of $22,213.48 to start the week, BTC/USD slipped to an intraday low of $21,012.48 in today’s session.
