Exam Dates Announced for Schools

Phnom Penh: Cambodia’s 2021 school exam dates have been announced. The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (MoEYS) has set the schedule for lower and upper secondary school exams for both public and private schools.

According to the ministry's guidelines, public school Grade 9s will sit their examinations from 15 November, with Grade 12s starting on 6 December. Private schools will start their exams on 11 and 25 October, respectively. The ministry has also granted permission for private schools to prepare their Grade 9 and Grade 12 examinations at their own institutions. The year-end vacation for public schools will run from 1-31 December.

Meanwhile, private schools will not be reopening just yet. They had requested permission this week to open soon, but MoEYS’ spokesperson, Mr. Ros Soveacha, says all schools must remain closed with the 20 February Community Event not yet ended. He’s encouraged all schools to continue online teaching. It is hoped schools will be able to reopen in Phnom Penh in August, following the successful vaccination campaign in the capital, although no announcement has yet been made.
