PM Reaffirms There is No Need to Close the Country Again

PHNOM PENH: Prime Minister Hun Sen has reiterated that there is no need to close the country again because Cambodia has achieved high vaccination rates among the people. What he requests instead is for the people to continue getting vaccinated according to the instructions issued by the Ministry of Health.

Prime Minister Hun Sen said in a meeting with the delegates of the ASEAN Para Games on Wednesday morning, 6 July, that vaccination protects people from Covid-19, so it is important to get vaccinated to protect lives from the pandemic, especially as Cambodia finds new cases of Covid-19.

After a 52-day lull, on 28 June, Covid-19 re-emerged in Cambodia raising concerns about the spread of the virus within the community. The Prime Minister made a special announcement on the night new cases were discovered, asking members of the public to take care of their health, and encouraging people to get the Covid-19 vaccine according to their respective requirements.
