Hun Manet Recalls the PM’s Merits as a Leader Who Does Not Run Away from Citizens

TAKEO: The Deputy Commander of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (RCAF) and the Commander of the Royal Cambodian Army, Lt. Gen. Hun Manet, has recalled the merits of Prime Minister Hun Sen in liberating the nation from the Khmer Rouge genocidal regime and staying with the people under all circumstances since then.

“The Prime Minister never ran away from the people or left anyone to suffer,” said the RCAF Deputy Commander.

Addressing Prime Minister Hun Sen and First Lady Bun Rany Hun Sen at the boundary burial ceremony of Preah Vihear Morokot Bun Seangly located in Sleng Paogda, Kirivong District, Takeo Province, Lt. Gen. Hun Manet expressed his high appreciation and praise for the Royal Government of Cambodia, especially the Prime Minister, for leading the nation to achieve peace and development in all fields. He especially highlighted the harmonization of religious beliefs, which enables people to respect each other’s beliefs without quarrelling or killing one another, living in total harmony, especially when compared to other countries in the region and around the world.

He continued that in leading the country, the Prime Minister dedicated more than half of his life to this cause and never killed anyone. Instead, he only contributed to the liberation of the country and the lives of the Cambodian people from the genocidal regime of Pol Pot. He also contributed to improving livelihoods and providing people living in hunger a better life day by day.

Moreover, during the major outbreak of Covid-19 in Cambodia, the Prime Minister stood in solidarity with the people and worked hard to find vaccines to prevent the spread of the virus, and then made sure to provide vaccines to both Cambodians and foreigners free of charge. As a result, more than 90% of the Cambodian population has been vaccinated against Covid-19.

Lt. Gen Hun Manet also called on the people of Takeo to participate in taking the 3rd, 4th and 5th booster shots, to allow Cambodian society be free of Covid-19.

According to a report from the Ministry of Health, between 10 February 2021 and 4 July 2022, 94% of Cambodia’s 16 million population got vaccinated against Covid-19. This includes more than 14 million people who have been vaccinated with the two base doses, more than 9.5 million who have received a third dose, nearly three million who have received a fourth dose, and more than 320,000 people who have received a fifth dose.

Currently, the government is speeding up vaccination efforts to encourage more people to get the vaccine. The Prime Minister has also repeatedly reassured that he will not charge members of the public for Covid-19 vaccinations.
