CIFF Is in Its Final 3 Days!

The 11th Cambodian International Film Festival (CIFF) is in its last 3 days! Of the 144 films participating in this festival from 26 countries, there are many movies and short films premiered.

Today at 2PM, CIFF will premiere a selected series of short films from “Cambodian-Japan Filmmaking Workshop” (CJFW) at Institut Francais du Cambodge (IFC). The workshop aimed to provide Cambodian semi-professional filmmakers the skills to pursue their careers and strengthen cultural understanding between Cambodia and Japan through film. The workshop lasted for nine days in late December 2021 with a total of 16 participants; the films were based on a short novel by Cambodian young writers on the effects of COVID-19 on daily living.

“We are very honored to present three works produced out of the workshop on the occasion of the CIFF this year. I strongly hope that important human resources related to the film and video productions in Japan and Cambodia will add new values, through collaborative activities and work”, stated Mr. ISOGAYA Hiroyuki, Director of Phnom Penh Liaison Office of the Japan Foundation.

“As Sunflower Film Organization (SFO) aims to train Cambodian youth to pursue their film careers, CJFW plays a crucial role in benefiting our semi-professional filmmakers in their professional pursuits and us in organizing such an international event”, added Sum Sithen, Executive Director of SFO.

It is noteworthy that this workshop was supported by the Cambodian Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts, in collaboration with Cambodia Film Commission, Sabay Nash, and Panasonic.
