Communist Party of Vietnam Congratulates CPP on Election Victory

PHNOM PENH: The General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Nguyễn Phú Trọng, made a phone call to Prime Minister Hun Sen, the President of the Cambodian People's Party (CPP), to congratulate the party on its huge victory at the recent Commune/Sangkat Council election held on 5 June 2022.

In a telephone conversation that lasted over 30 minutes on Monday, 27 June, one day before the celebration of the 71st anniversary of the founding of the CPP, Nguyễn Phú Trọng directly congratulated Prime Minister Hun Sen on the celebration of this major milestone and anniversary of the CPP.

He also congratulated the Prime Minister on the celebration of the 45th Anniversary of the Day of Remembrance of the Journey to Overthrow the Pol Pot Genocidal Regime on 20 June, at the historic military site of Techo Koh Thmor X16, located in Tonlong Commune, Memot District of Tbong Khmum Province.

In response, Prime Minister Hun Sen expressed his gratitude to Nguyễn Phú Trọng and thanked him for calling directly to congratulate the CPP for its 71st anniversary, and its major win at the Commune/Sangkat council elections. He further thanked the Vietnamese Communist Party General Secretary and the Government of Vietnam for their cooperation in organizing the 45th anniversary of the Day of Remembrance of the Road to Overthrow the Pol Pot Genocidal Regime.

Prime Minister Hun Sen also congratulated the Vietnamese government for successfully taking measures to prevent the spread of Covid-19, reopening the Vietnamese economy and maintaining significant economic growth.

The two sides agreed to continue promoting cooperation in all fields, to allow Cambodia and Vietnam to be stronger and double in growth.
