CPP to Celebrate 71st Anniversary Next Week

PHNOM PENH: Prime Minister Hun Sen will preside over the ceremony to celebrate the 71st Anniversary of the Founding of the Cambodian People's Party (CPP) on 28 June 2022.

Pursuant to the announcement, dated 23 June 2022, the Phnom Penh Capital Administration has announced the traffic on Norodom Blvd will be blocked on 28 June 2022 from 5 AM until the end of the program.

The celebration of the 71st anniversary of the founding of the CPP will be held on Tuesday, 28 June from 6 AM onwards, at the 7 Makara Palace in Tonle Bassac, Chamkarmon, Phnom Penh.

The CPP was founded on 28 June, 1951 by Cambodian nationalists to liberate the Cambodian nation from French colonization. It is the oldest party in Cambodia and led the struggle to liberate the Cambodian people from the Khmer Rouge regime in 1979 and has led the country to the present day.

The party is led by Prime Minister Hun Sen as the Chairman, DPM Sar Kheng and Senate President, Say Chhum, as Vice Presidents, and National Assembly President, Heng Samrin, as honorary president. The CPP Central Committee currently has 865 members.
