PM Hun Sen to Deliver Virtual Address at BRICS Plus Leader’s Event

PHNOM PENH: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has issued a press release announcing that Prime Minister Hun Sen, at the invitation of Chinese President, Xi Jinping, will join the Heads of States and Governments of Brazil, Russia, India, South Africa and other emerging markets and developing countries, to deliver a virtual address at the BRICS Plus Leader’s Event, High-level Dialogue on Global Development, on Friday, 24 June.

The event will be held virtually in Beijing, China under the theme “Foster a Global Development Partnership for the New Era to Jointly Implement the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.”

According to the press release, Prime Minister Hun Sen will highlight a number of different issues and topics in his virtual address, including post-Covid-19 world economic recovery, the continued pressure on the global security environment, food security and the significance of multilateralism and rules-based international cooperation. He will also focus on Cambodia’s post-Covid-19 economic recovery plan, efforts to address the smooth graduation process of Cambodia from Least Developed Countries status, and to achieve the Cambodian Sustainable Development Goals.

Prime Minister Hun Sen’s participation in this dialogue at the 14th BRICS Summit is expected to demonstrate Cambodia’s commitment to play an active role in achieving global economic recovery and the 2030 agenda of sustainable development goals.
