Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Is Having a Positive Impact on People's Lives

Phnom Penh: The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Deputy Prime Minister Prak Sokhonn thanked the People's Republic of China for its continuous assistance to the Royal Government of Cambodia through the special fund for Lancang-Mekong Cooperation, which has provided Cambodia with the benefits of many of the projects have a positive impact on people's livelihoods through strong and resilient economic and social development as well as contributing to the improvement of people's livelihoods throughout the subregion.

Speaking at the signing ceremony for the Special Fund Agreement for the 2022 Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Project, Deputy Prime Minister Prak Sokhonn said, "Since its launch in 2016, this special fund has provided tangible results and contributed to the socio-economic development of Lancang-Mekong. We have further narrowed our development gap through the integration and interdependence of development and strengthened our ability to better respond to the needs of our people. But most importantly, we have shown good neighborliness and friendship as well as our complementary focus on building trust, mutual understanding, and the benefits of cooperation."

According to the Minister, so far, the Special Fund for Lancang-Mekong Cooperation has provided 80 projects to Cambodia, and in 2022, Cambodia will continue to receive 13 new projects with a budget of more than 4 million US dollars.
