NCONIF Instructs All Ministries and Institutions to Celebrate the Queen Mother’s Royal Birthday

PHNOM PENH: The National Committee for Organizing National and International Festivals (NCONIF) has instructed all ministries and institutions throughout the country to be ready to celebrate and organize the Royal Birthday of Her Majesty Queen Norodom Monineath Sihanouk, the Queen Mother of Cambodia, as she turns 87 years old.

In the introductory plan, dated 20 May, the Chairman of the National Committee for Organizing National and International Festivals, Kong Sam Ol, instructed the Ministry of the Royal Palace to organize a birthday party for the Queen Mother in accordance with royal tradition and according to the wishes of the Her Majesty.

The Minister also ordered all ministries, institutions, capital-provincial administrations, including pagodas, to decorate their establishments with a royal portrait, provide greetings and blessings, and raise the national flag, religious flag, royal flag, and a banner of congratulations.

The Ministry of Information and the Ministry of Culture will broadcast national and private radio and television programs about Her Majesty the Queen's activities and achievements, and will also produce traditional concert broadcast on national and private radio as part of the celebrations.

The NCONIF and the Capital-Provincial Administration will also organize a program to visit the sick being treated in hospitals and the vulnerable elderly, implementing health measures to prevent the spread of Covid-19, and will contact all ministries and institutions for support in monetary donations.

The Minister of the Royal Palace said that all these arrangements were to express gratitude to the Queen Mother for sacrificing her energy and intellect in royal activities conducted for the motherland and all Cambodian people.

This year's Royal Birthday Ceremony for Her Majesty the Queen Mother of Cambodia will take place on Saturday, 18 June 2022. The celebrations will also feature fireworks on Saturday night.
