Hun Manet Says Continued Support for the CPP Encourages and Awards Those Who are Working

TBONG KHMUM: Member of the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Cambodian People's Party and Chairman of the Youth of the Central Committee of the CPP, Hun Manet, has said that for more than 40 years, the CPP has built up and protected the people for national reconciliation and forward progress. He added that voting for the party will make the party more motivated and able to perform better. These remarks were made during a meeting with the Tbong Khmum Provincial Party Youth Working Group on Wednesday, 1 June.

Addressing more than 2,000 party youths, Hun Manet spoke of the Royal Government’s success in the fight against Covid-19 with the participation of the people, and said he hoped that the party would have the support of the majority of the people in the 2022 Commune/District Council Election as well as the National Election of 2023. He said that this is so that the party can continue to carry the responsibility of serving national defense and the people to allow Cambodians to live in peace, happiness, and security under the umbrella of social, economic and political stability, and with opportunities available for continuous development.

He said, "The results of each election are a testament to the influence of the party and the people's genuine respect for the political party, as the election must be held in a secret, free, fair, and just manner which reflects the true will of the people. Therefore, voting for the CPP to continue to lead is to reward and encourage those who have worked hard and sacrificed so that the leaders and party officials at all levels have the strength and ability to perform their duties better."

On this occasion, he also instructed party officials and supporters of the CPP to work hard to serve the people honestly and without discrimination, as well as to be open to the participation of organizations and associations from all walks of life, on behalf of the total strength of the nation whose goal is to make the people live in peace and have a prosperous life.

He said, "The composition of party members, supporters or members of the general public is not important because what is important is to support and participate in choosing the right leadership to serve and uphold the interests of the nation and the people as a whole, under an umbrella of national unity and peace."

The CPP was formed on 28 June 1951 by Cambodian nationalists to liberate the nation from French colonization. It is the oldest party in Cambodia, has played a major part in leading the struggle to liberate the Cambodian people from the Khmer Rouge regime in 1979, and has continued to lead the Cambodian government to this day.
