FIFA World Cup to visit Cambodia

Phnom Penh: The Royal Government, National Olympic Committee of Cambodia and Coca Cola Company announced the "FIFA World Cup-Trophy Tour" to Phnom Penh, Cambodia; the cup will arrive via a private jet on 15 June 2022.

The FIFA World Cup trophy kicked-off its global tour on Thursday (May 12) starting with a star-studded unveiling in Dubai.

The glistening golden cup will visit 53 countries including - for the first time - all 32 World Cup qualifying countries.

The tour will enable thousands of fans to see the trophy up-close and snap pictures of it.

Cambodia is proud to receive the trophy on its tour around the world for the first time. Cambodia is encouraged to celebrate the world cup competition in December 2022 in Doha, Qatar.

There will be a parade from Phnom Penh airport to the Peace Palace where Prime Minister Hun Sen will welcome the trophy to Cambodia. Then the trophy will be available for the locals to see and take pictures at the Morodok Techo National Stadium.

The Government is encouraging, all citizens, athletes, and soccer enthusiasts to join the celebration from 1pm to 10pm and have pride and love for this historic event for Cambodia.

The Original FIFA World Cup Trophy is made of solid gold, with a design that dates back to 1974. The famous icon can only be held by a select group of people, including former winners and Heads of State.

This will mark the fifth global FIFA World Cup Trophy Tour.
