Hun Manet Urges Party Officials to Work Hard to Serve the People at the Grassroots Level in Order to Win the Election

PHNOM PENH: Member of the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) Standing Committee and Chairman of the Youth Central Committee, Hun Manet, has told CPP youth that the grassroots is a real force that always supports the party in every election because the people at each locality are the ones who witness the development of infrastructure, the village-commune environment, safety and order, and the improved provision of public services on the ground. He shared these remarks during a meeting with the Secretariat and the sub-units of the Youth Central Committee of the CPP in Phnom Penh on Sunday, 29 May.

During the meeting, Hun Manet stated that the Youth Central Committee of the CPP has strived to serve the institution with pride and honesty, as well as with the will to serve the nation and the people in accordance with the policies of the party and the leadership of the party, President Hun Sen.

He added that the CPP has earned many great achievements and merits in history, which gives pride to young people and encourages them to participate in politics. He reminded everyone of the role of the party’s youth: to protect the people to achieve peace and development.

He said, "The youth of the Cambodian People's Party has played an unchanging role with unwavering resolve in serving the party for more than 70 years and will continue to ensure the effectiveness of their work, especially in the context of development and transformation of society in the name of the successors that the party has taken care of, organized, nursed, maintained, and built capacity for on a regular basis from the very beginning. [...] Young people must remember that the grassroots are a real force that has always supported our party in every election because the people in each locality are those who live and have seen the development of infrastructure, village-commune environment, safety, and order, as well as the focus on providing public services closer to the people."

The CPP was formed on 28 June 1951 by Cambodian nationalists to liberate the nation from French colonization. It is the oldest party in Cambodia and played a major part in leading the struggle to liberate the Cambodian people from the Khmer Rouge regime in 1979.

The party is currently led by its President, Prime Minister Hun Sen, and four vice presidents, Deputy Prime Minister Sar Kheng, Senate President Say Chhum, Deputy Prime Minister Tea Banh, and Deputy Prime Minister Men Sam An, with National Assembly President Heng Samrin as Honorary President.
