Hun Many Reminds the Younger Generation to Understand the History of Remembrance Day to Participate in Protecting and Building Peace
PHNOM PENH: The Chairman of the Seventh Committee of the National Assembly, and President of the Union of Youth Federations of Cambodia, Hun Many, reminded the younger generation to understand the history of Remembrance Day, and to participate in protecting and building the peace that we have at all costs.
Hun Many wrote on his official Facebook page on the occasion of the National Day of Remembrance, 20 May, that as a Cambodian citizen, he would like to dedicate this day to all Cambodians who unjustly lost their lives in the most brutal way during the genocidal regime which lasted 3 years, 8 months, and 20 days.
He wrote, "Even though we have been revived since the day of liberation on 7 January 1979, and we have subsequently achieved complete peace for more than the last two decades, we cannot forget the worst and most bitter tragedy in [our] history.”
He also asked the people to take a minute to dedicate their thoughts to the souls of those who have passed.
